Maria du Toit is widely known and loved for her mesmerising clarinet performances on stages across the world. Originally from South Africa, she is currently based in Europe where she specialises in solo and chamber music performances.
NEW ALBUM WITH CHANNEL CLASSICS
In November 2023 Maria recorded an album featuring all-women composers with Dutch pianist Vera Kooper for the label Channel Classics. The official worldwide release will be on 15 November 2024.
DAVID EARL'S CONCERTO IN THE CONCERTGEBOUW
In January 2024 Maria gave the Dutch premiere of David Earl's clarinet concerto with the VU Orkest in the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven as well as the illustrious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This concerto is dedicated to Maria.
WORLD PREMIERE PERFORMANCE
Maria has recently returned from South Africa where she gave the world premiere performance of the clarinet concerto by the late Roelof Temmingh with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and maestro Yasuo Shinozaki. The work is dedicated to Maria.
CLARINETFEST 2023
In July of 2023 Maria traveled to Denver, Colorado (USA) to perform the American premiere of the clarinet concerto by David Earl, with the Fort Collins Symphony and maestro Wes Kenney. The concert was part of the 50th anniversary of the annual international event Clarinetfest, to which Maria was invited as headline artist.
DUO TOUR
In May 2023 Maria undertook an extensive tour of South Africa with her duo partner, Dutch pianist Vera Kooper. The duo already has their next international tour planned, which will be to Indonesia in April 2024.
